vauxhall-adamFleetworld, a well-respected fleet website has announced that the new electronic versions of the Vauxhall Adam and Mokka will be showcased at the FleetWorld Fleet Show in April.

The event will be held at Silverstone. Vauxhall’s new Mokka SUV is sure to grab plenty of attention with its unique shape and stand out features. The Vauxhall Adam is the company’s new city car. It is able to be heavily personalised with plenty of different options to choose from. It’s an urban type of vehicle designed to compete with the likes of the Volkswagen UP!

Silverstone track testing

These two vehicles may be of great interest to fleet companies, given their excellent MPG ratings. The beauty of having the event at Silverstone is that people attending the show can test the vehicles on the racetrack as well as on public roads. Other car manufacturers will also be bringing their latest models along to show case what they can offer fleet companies. Approximately 200 models will be at the event.

nPower handing out expert advice

nPower will be at the event within the exhibition area at Silverstone. They will be handing out advice on various electric vehicle options. The advice will include information of installation on vehicle chargers and charge point management systems. They themselves have taken on electric vehicles as part of their fleets. They have produced a fleet management system which helps reimburse employees for when they use home EV charging points. With that they are able to dish out great advice on how to effectively run a fleet of electronic vehicles.

Enfield 8000

Another highlight will be the Enfield 8000, one of Britain’s first ever electronic vehicles that were produced in mass amounts. It has been restored for a race, aimed at breaking the British record for a street legal electronic vehicle.
The idea is that fleet companies eventually gain a sustainable and long term solution with electric vehicles. That would not only save a lot of money but it would also help the environment a great deal. Initial costs may be more expensive but it is certainly worth it over a period of time.

There are plenty of reasons for fleet companies to visit. Not only will they view some of the latest fleet friendly electronic vehicles around, they’ll also get expert advice from a number of sources.

Images have been released of the new popular Vauxhall Astra VXR.

Looks

First of all, it looks absolutely stunning, as many would have expected. The car’s exterior certainly gives away the amount of power it has and the performance on the road that it delivers. The aggressive and large 20 inch alloy wheels make the car look very intimidating indeed. They have very attractive design too which fall in line with Vauxhall’s next generation design plans.

The front grill looks classy alongside the low splitter.  Newly fitted side skirts add an extra element of sportiness to backup the car’s persona. Visually the car is simply impeccable.

Performance

The car will be able to achieve a mind blowing 280 BHP from its four cylinder 2.0 litre turbocharged engine.  That’s an improvement of 40 BHP from the last model. As of yet there have been no performance related statistics revealed by Vauxhall. When they are, we believe they will be quite outstanding.

When can I buy one and how much?

The petrol fuelled Vauxhall Astra VXR will be available to order in April 2012.  The cost of the vehicle hasn’t been revealed yet. However some expert sources have predicted that the car will cost around £25,000.

Is the market leader?

It looks as if the Ford Focus ST, the Volkswagen Golf GTI has a rival to contend with. This time, Ford and Volkswagen will strangely enough have to play catch up with the Vauxhall’s speedy hatchback, as it has more power than both of them individually. The SEAT Leon Cupra and the Renault Sport Megane 250 can’t boast performance statistics as the VXR’s either. Not even the Volkswagen Golf R can match the power. Will it be a class leader? It certainly has the right engine to make that claim a sensible forecast.

Joachim Winkelhock is a former two time winner Nürburgring 24 hours. He gave his opinion on the car saying it’s a car that can satisfy drivers who seek excitement from the drive. He was quoted to have said “We have devised a great package that will convince the most experienced and enthusiastic drivers – and not only when driving on the Ring,”

We can’t wait for the Vauxhall Astra VXR to be released. It looks like it will be one the standout cars of next year

Details have been revealed about the upcoming Vauxhall Astra Convertible, due to be released next year.

Being a convertible, sales are expected to start in the summer in an attempt to boost sales. The release date hasn’t yet been confirmed but some sources have said that the car will be released in 2013.

The fact that it won’t be named after the Vauxhall Astra is perhaps the most significant piece of news released about the car. Similar to the Volkswagen EOS, it will be a standalone vehicle rather than known as the new Astra Cabriolet.

Design Head at General Motors, Mark Adams statement confirm the companies’ intentions to separate the new Vauxhall Astra Convertible away from the current one. He claimed that Vauxhall are moving on in terms of design into a new generation. He told CAR Magazine “This car demands a new name – it will look nothing like an Astra”. He also said “Next up in 2012 are a string of much fancier cars, new launches will change the perception people have of Vauxhall and Opel”.

From the look of the new Vauxhall Ampera due to be released soon, his statements have plenty of substance. Is Vauxhall’s new generation of design intended to change everyone’s perception of the company? Are they looking at a new marketing strategy for the future? Could the Insignia and Ampera be the basis for what is to come? If so we can’t wait for the new generation of Vauxhall cars.

Earlier in the year images of the car were revealed in form of sketches created by Vauxhall. From what we can see the car looks completely independent in terms of design from the actual Astra. The rear has a wonderful double exhaust at the back giving off a brilliant sporty from the spy shots not too much was given away. Although what we saw isn’t the finished product, from what has been given away so far, the statements of Mark Adams as well as the direction in which Vauxhall seem to be going we believe the new Vauxhall Astra convertible will look great.

Everything is at an early stage at the moment, so prices haven’t been officially released. Some expert sources have predicted however that car could be worth anything from £20,000 plus.

When looking at the new Vauxhall Astra GTC, you immediately think of the Volkswagen Scirocco. Vauxhall themselves have already stated that the  Renault Megane along with the Scirocco as its immediate rivals. That’s certainly a tough market to crack.

It will naturally join the sport coupe class with a target of being the best car to handle within its class.

A tough feat to beat, the Scirocco has been praised by many car experts for its handling. The “stability and precision” of the car is something that is unmatched according to Vauxhall. This is said to be the major attribute in the cars selling point in swaying others away from its rivals. Will it actually work? If drivers want a car that handles great wouldn’t they opt a dedicated sports car for the same price?

Vauxhall surely won’t be banking on just the handling to make the car a hit. There are plenty of other brilliant features about the car that will make it very attractive to prospective buyers.

We mentioned that the car looked like a Scirocco. Bearing that in mind, it’s obvious to say that the Vauxhall Astra GTC doesn’t look like your typical Astra. It sits 15mm lower than the normal Astra and has a wider frame. This naturally helps the performance of the car and makes it looks a lot different, but in a good way. The aggressive and sporty looks will be a great selling point for the car. 20inch wheels will also add to the appeal, with them blending in superbly with everything looking in great proportion.

There will be a decent range of engines available too. They include both petrol and diesel. There will be a 2.0 litre diesel that produces a decent 163bhp. The 1.6 petrol will produce 178bhp and will be turbocharged. Two 1.4 petrol’s will also be made available with an output of 118bhp and 138bhp.

After the car’s premiershwoing at the Frankfurt Motor show this week, it has been predicted that the car will do very well.

It will set you back £18,495 with the highest spec costing £22,430.

The Vauxhall Astra GTC already has 15,000 pre orders. Could this car be a stroke of genius from the German company?

The new Vauxhall Zafira price tag will be £21,000, it has been announced. This week at the Frankfurt Motor Show the latest model which will be the “Tourer” was unveiled and paraded in front of thousands of fans.

The price has been set for the ES 1.8 which will be the entry level car. It is said to have a generous 140bhp, a generous amount of power for a car of its class it would appear.

It is known as one of the most versatile and unique 7 seater vehicles. The typical size that you may associate with a 7 seater is not seen on the Zafira.  However the new model has been made slightly bigger, with the length being 19cm longer and the track increased by 9.6cm.The new dimensions have ensured however that the car hasn’t lost their identity.

What do you get for £21,000?

The looks

The style and design of the mew Vauxhall Zafira looks fantastic and very attractive. Vauxhall’s next generation of cars seem to have “Boomerang” shape headlights fitted. If you buy the Vauxhall Zafira, you’ll certainly be purchasing a car that’s stylish as well as having a superb family car.

Equipment

For the £21,000 you’ll have air conditioning, six airbags, Flex7 seating along with a sophisticated sound system that includes a DAB.

Safety Technology

Safety technology is quite advanced in the new Vauxhall Zafira. As it’s a family car, it would appear that Vauxhall has placed a lot of emphasis on the safety of passengers, hoping this will help justify the cars price tag.

Safety Technology included

  • Side Blind Spot Alert
  • Advance Park Assist
  • Side Blind Spot Alert

Practicality

There is a large boot space that can reach up to 1860 litres depending on the setup within the vehicle. The seating arrangement is more flexible and practical than ever before. Certain areas of the seating are able to be altered depending on the situation. Extra storage units are also placed within.

It’s hard to say whether the car can trump the market leader, the Ford S-Max and whether the price tag is justified yet.

Expect to see the Vauxhall Zafira available for purchase on the 1st November of this year.

The well respected magazine and website Whatcar? Have named the Vauxhall Ampera their green car of the year.

It’s an impressive award that is highly respected throughout the industry. Whatcar? were mightily amazed by the car, which they said offers drivers a chance to be friendly to the environment without changing their lifestyle or the way they like to drive. The car aims to be the greenest alternative fuel car when it is released.

The Vauxhall Ampera will emit just 40g/km and have a surprising fuel consumption rating of 175mpg. However between 25-50 miles there will be no emissions being released from the car, on full electric charge. This is a statistic that bodes well for Vauxhall, as recent finding showed that most drivers travel under 25 miles a day. It has also been mentioned that the Vauxhall Ampera will be able to travel 310 miles without the need to change the battery or refill the petrol stored in the tank.  It has smart in built technology that helps the car stay green. For example it has regenerative braking which captures energy used when braking and reuses it.

Despite being a green car, it offers a great driving experience too. Drivers will be able to accelerate fairly quickly and reach a considerably high top speed too. The look of Vauxhall Ampera is also very attractive. It has an elegant look with exterior body parts that make it look very sporty. Even the alloys are eco influenced, with its spokes being designed in a leaf shape (As seen in various images of the car) The whole idea to make the car environmentally friendly whilst being stylish, elegant and delivering a driving experience that is not compromised in any way.

There is a sense of brilliance throughout the interior. The design itself is enough for people assume that the car is built with pure quality. The controls and features are wonderfully blended together, with an excellent choice of colours that’s very pleasant on the eye.

Test drives for the car are available at the Battersea Power station in London during EcoVelocity. With the high hopes placed upon the car, it would appear that it is destined to be very successful.

The Vauxhall Ampera has already attracted plenty of interest as this award is a testament to. It will be on sale in 2012.

Built as the fastest Corsa ever, the VXR Nurburgring went on sale in May of this year with a price tag of £22,295.

The original Vauxhall Corsa is more of a family car, designed for conventional drivers who prefer to sit in comfort driving a car with practicality.  We discover why the VXR Nurburgring is a completely different kettle of fish altogether.

Added speed

First and foremost, the car has a lot more speed within. The engine is a 1.6 litre turbo that can produce up to 202bhp. The maximum torque produced is said to be up to 207lb ft. It can hit 0-62mph in just 6.5 seconds within a maximum speed of 143mph. Improvements in the turbo, exhaust and engine management software have made the high performance possible.  The car is one of the fastest supermini’s on the market today.

Economy

As you would expect from a Vauxhall Corsa, the running costs are quite decent. The fuel usage statistic is around 37.2mpg with just 178g/km of C02 emitted.

Driving the car

The handling is great round corners and when taken with speed, with the car gripping the road very well. The driver is able to bring about a very responsive halt to the car, a testament to the Brembo brakes within. VXR Nurburgring’s are more of a low rider compared to the standard VXR. This version comes 20mm lower than the typical VXR, improving the ride of the car. The Nurburgring version has a weight reduction of around 30%.

Features that comes as standard

Every VXR Nurburgring will have attractive 18 inch alloy wheels. Recaro sports seats are also included as standard. Traction and electronic stability control come with the car. Eagle eyed  styled headlights as well as a brand new body kit make the car look very sporty. The car will be a 4 wheel drive and have a 6 speed transmission.

Is it too expensive?

The car has barely been on the market. We have to wait and see how the car progresses and see how the public take to it. The expensive price tag could be a stumbling block, as many wouldn’t see a reason to justify paying the huge amount.

The rivals

  • Renaultsport Clio 200
  • MINI JCW
  • Fiat Punto Evo Abarth

A model for the future, the Ampera is very much anticipated to be Vauxhall’s answer to creating eco-friendly cars that can provide a great driving experience.  The Ampera will be powered by electricity. It will be the first electric car capable of producing no emissions what so ever.

A uniquely crafted car with an outstanding design, the Ampera will certainly grab a lot of attention. Front headlights are particularly noticeable, with them being nicely connected to the lower fog lights.

The car will be made of very light materials to give less drag, meaning better environmental and economic efficiency. This will include polycarbonate material placed upon the front grille and on appropriate places within the alloy wheels.

There will be plenty of space within a brilliantly designed interior. Its futuristic look gives the feel of a car that is made with quality.

The Ampera offers the space, comfort, and convenience features that you expect from a modern car:  with five doors, four seats and a storage capacity of more than 300 litres.

It is estimated that the cost of driving will be dramatically decreased compared to normal fuel cars. Vauxhall have mentioned prices of up to one fifth less expensive than petrol cars to keep the car running. The car can be conveniently charged at home or at work.

A full charge may cost just 85p giving approximately 50 miles of driving. That’s not all however, if you need to travel further extra power is provided within using innovative technology. Hundreds of miles of extra driving can be achieved before needing a recharge.

Future plans will see plenty of electric power stations throughout the nations. Electric car owners will find more convenient charging points throughout the nation.

The world is changing, the severely affected environment is being effected by emissions produced and energy used by cars. It is clear that all car manufacturers must adapt to change in demand in order to have a long lasting future.Vauxhall  has said they intend to invest one billion pounds on technology to help create eco-friendly cars for the future. The Ampera seems to be a step in the right direction. We can expect to see the Ampera in 2012.
