General Motors seniors receive awards 0

Highly respected figures working for General Motors have recently received some prestigious awards.General Motors European President Nick Reilly along with Vauxhall Chairman Bill Parfitt received The Tom Pryce Award and The Automotive Achievement Award respectively presented by the Welsh Motoring Writers.

Nick Reilly will step down from his role as General Motors European President next year. He leaves in very high regard after achieving a tremendous amount of success with the company. His 37 years with the business also includes ventures in Asia and Latin America as well as Europe.

He was a major player in securing the deal with Daweoo Motors back in 2002. This particular course of action has lead to great profits in many respects for General Motors.

During 2009, where the automotive industry was suffering from its worst draught in many years, Nick Reilly was seen as one the main Senior figures at the company to help turnaround what could have been a bleak outcome for the company.

He was very proud to receive such an award and looked back on great memories at General Motors. He said “Receiving this prestigious and striking award from Welsh Motoring Writers is an honour, made even more special in a ceremony within a few miles of my birthplace.  This weekend with media friends in my home country will find a special place in my memories of a long career in the motor industry”

Bill Parfitt – The Automotive Achievement Award

Bill Parfitt is the Chairman of General Motors UK & Ireland. He was appointed to the role in 2008 after working as the Fleet Operations Director for Vauxhall, an Executive Director of Sales, Marketing and aftersales, European Fleet operations and Managing Director of General Motors UK ltd.

He has helped change the fortunes of Vauxhall in a significant way.

He said upon receiving the award that it was an honour to receive such an award.

“To receive such an accolade, particularly from journalists in Wales, is superb. ‘I spent my formative business years in the Principality and have consistently championed the industry and its supply chain here.  This Welsh award for Automotive Achievement is a distinct and memorable moment in my career”
