The Vauxhall Astra Convertible 0
We have already reviewed the Vauxhall Astra, but today we look into the convertible variant of the car.The car’s production lasted from 1998 to 2006. We take a look at what we believe were the car’s best features.
Practicality is one feature which many convertibles don’t have. With this car being based on the Vauxhall Astra, you would expect the car to have plenty of practicality through. The car doesn’t let you down in that respect. There is plenty of room throughout and does have space for four adults within, something is usually unheard of amongst many other convertibles. The roof is able to come down from the touch of a button on the key, which will come across as very convenient.
Usually boot space is sacrificed in order to place the roof in other convertibles. That isn’t the case with the Vauxhall Astra Convertible however. The boot is very spacious and can fit plenty of shopping and luggage.
The handling upon the car is very satisfying. The steering is very responsive and accurate too. The car’s body control is very stable and offers a very firm ride.
The Vauxhall Astra convertible does come with many different variants to suit a wide range of drivers.
There are four engines available to choose from which all run on petrol. The 1.8 litre engines are able to produce a respectable 123 BHP.
For those who require a slow and more conservative ride, the 1.6 produces just 99 BHP.
The 2.2 litre is naturally more power with the car producing 144 BHP. You’ll have plenty of fun in the 2.2 as it offers a great amount of agility. It’s the best option in terms of combining performance and fuel economy.
The 2.0 litre turbo version is the engine for those who require pure power. It can produce a top speed of 150 MPH and is the fastest car in the range.
Alloy wheels, anti lock brakes, front airbags, a CD player as well as air conditioning all come as standard. That’s quite a generous amount of equipment to come with standard models.
Fans will be pleased to hear that the new Vauxhall Astra Convertible is set to make a comeback next year.
