Vauxhall Winning Again 0
Vauxhall and Opel have had an extremely successful year to date. Multiple vehicles of theirs have picked up numerous awards; they have seen record sales and their brand image have gained more reputation as a result. In most cases, luck runs out, but this does not seem to be the problem for Opel at this moment. Just a few weeks back the Astra won Auto Express’ Compact Family Car of the Year, and now the company have just won another award.
The Opel GT Concept was unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in 2016 and since then, the vehicle has gained critical acclaim for its beautiful design. We have mentioned the vehicle in previous articles, but now it really has gained the attention it always deserved. The German Design Council, who also organise the coveted Automotive Brand Award, just recently named the GT concept as the winner of the Design Study 2016 award. Although many here in the UK may not have heard about the award, it must be recognised as another accolade to add to a rather large growing collection this year.
The award was credited with the ‘Concepts Best of Best’ award, and we believe that the Opel GT Concept thoroughly deserved it. Mark Adams, as senior car designer at General Motors said that “The GT Concept is a dream car that takes Opel’s philosophy ‘sculptural artistry meets German precision’ to the next level. The feedback has been simply overwhelming. My team and I are proud that our sports car study is being honoured as the best concept car of 2016 with the Automotive Brand Award.”
Congratulations are certainly in order for Opel, Mark Adams and the Opel GT Concept. It certainly is a beautiful looking vehicle and we can only hope that it will make it to production one day…
