Vauxhall celebrates one year anniversary of OnStar 0
The service, which offers on board communication, security, navigation and regular diagnostic checkups, has revolutionised on-board computer intelligence, and set a bar for other carmakers to aim for.
Since launch, the app has been activated almost one million times by British customers, with the service receiving about 880,000 calls from customers, and 830,000 diagnostics emails. Vauxhall believes that by next year, two out of every three of their new vehicles will be fitted with OnStar.
“OnStar is proving popular with Vauxhall and Opel customers across the UK and Europe,” said Brian McCreavy, Regional Manager, OnStar Europe. “People really appreciate the convenience and peace of mind offered by OnStar services, which is clear to see from the interactions to date. So it goes without saying that we’re looking forward to bringing these new markets into our family.”
Next on the agenda for OnStar are ambitious plans to expand into a further 18 additional European markets, as the service continues to grow, and new features are added to its current capabilities. The system has been heavily praised within the automotive media and has gathered a string of awards including Auto Express’s Technology Award, Car Buyer’s Best Safety Innovation plus the innovation award at the BusinessCar Techies 2015.
