A closer look at the new Vauxhall Astra VXR 0

The new Vauxhall Astra VXR has some wonderful new features and is the most powerful one ever built.

It is Vauxhall’s flagship performance model and has been described as the best within it’s particular class of vehicle.  The new generation will replace the 2010 version, quite a successful vehicle in it’s own right. Since the car’s introduction in 2005 the car has become a major success, taking the UK market by storm.

It seems that Vauxhall have now changed their tune somewhat. The car still remains a powerhouse, with plenty of agility and offering a great performance. But Vauxhall have emphasised more on the adding the practicality features that you may see in a typical Astra, helping to give owners the feeling that they are able to use the car everyday for normal routine activities.

The VXR’s fierce rivals include the Volkswagen Scirocco R, the Renault Megane Sport 265 and the Ford Focus ST. Vauxhall claim that the new VXR will be the best in the segment and the cheapest at the same time. The price official price of the vehicle certainly beats that of the Scirocco and Megane by some distance.

The maximum amount of power produced from the vehicle will be 276 BHP. Is there any need for more power within a small hatchback?

Fuel consumption combined will hit 34.9 MPG with emissions reaching 189g/km of C02.

The springs have been made stiffer to enable better performance. Now the car will be able to take corners at higher speeds whilst gripping the road superbly with it’s sports tyres. Vauxhall’s FlexRide active dampening system is a standard feature helping to adjust the vehicle’s driving attitude with settings of Standard, Sport and VXR drive mode. All of that power will be contained by Brembo brakes, a supplier to some of the fastest cars in the world.

Looks wise, you are sure to get people turning their heads from angles. The new VXR looks mean and aggressive with twin exhaust pipes and a wonderful looking body kit. The aerodynamic features on the car’s body give away a sportier type of look at the same time. There will be 19 inch wheels helping the vehicle to look that bit extra aggressive. The 20 inch wheels are optional but we think the 19 inch wheels look good enough.
