What a Year it has been for the Astra… So Far 0
The Vauxhall Astra really has been doing well so early on in the year and it is about time that we collected all of its awards together and give it a really, really big round of applause. The Vauxhall Astra has been on the roads of Britain since 1979 and has sold magnificently since. There is no doubt that it is one of the UK’s favourite cars, but sadly, it has been under appreciated for a very long time. The seventh generation is the update that the vehicle really needed and the result of this has been a huge change in fortunes of the Astra. Having only been released in September 2015, these are the awards that it has already picked up;
- Scottish Car of the Year Awards (2015 sadly, but it must be included right?)
The Scottish Car of the Year Awards turned out to be an extremely lucrative ceremony for Vauxhall. The company managed to bag the Scottish Car of the Year award. But, this does not seem enough does it? The Vauxhall Astra then managed to bag both the Eco and the Family Car awards too, so they did very well.
- What Car? Awards
What Car?, a subsidiary of Which?, also dealt out the award for Best Family Car to the Vauxhall Astra in their awards night. This must have come as fantastic news for the company as the magazine has a huge influence on future car buyers.
- European Car Awards
This is probably the biggest award that the Astra could win and they managed to pull it off. The Vauxhall/Opel vehicle fended off competition from 40 different vehicles to collect the award in Geneva.
- Fleet News Awards
The Astra was awarded with the Lower-Medium Category award by Fleet News in London earlier this year. Yet another accolade added to the growing collection for the car.
- UK Car of the Year Award
The Astra won Best Small Hatchback at these awards. Chosen by 27 motoring journalists, Vauxhall can only be happy as the Astra was praised for its design, performance and equipment.
Vauxhall have really upped their game when it has come to the new Astra and their hard work has really paid off. Let’s hope that they can continue their hard work across the range of vehicles that they produce.
