Women find men who drive Vauxhall Astras irresistible says survey 0
This isn’t the most highbrow article we’ve released this year, but they conducted a survey on it, and it may help boost sales in the British car industry over the coming months, so here we go…
Vauxhall’s family hatchback – the Astra – makes you more desirable to the opposite sex, a new survey has revealed.
It does sound like the slogan to some particularly awful 1970’s advert campaign but statistics show that women in the UK are most attracted to men who drive Vauxhall Astras.
In the ‘survey’ conducted by money saving website – VouchersCodesPro.co.uk – respondents were quizzed as to whether they judged potential male partners on the type of car they drive, with 78% saying that they did. Shallow or what?
That 78% were then asked the reasons why they thought it was important: 56% saw a decent car as a sign of wealth and financial security, 27% said men with nice cars tended to respect women better, and 22% believed they could judge a man’s personality based on his car.
On top of this, 18% said the type of car a man drives is a good indication of how mature here is, and 11% said they have a passion for cars and were looking for a man that matched that.
To finish with, those participating in the survey were shown a wide display of cars and asked to list what they found the most attractive for possible male partners to drive. Finishing first by some way was the Astra – 24% of respondents opted for the Vauxhall, BMW 1-Series finished second with 19%, and the Audi A3 came in third place with 14%.
2,787 single British women aged 18 or over took part in the survey. George Charles, marketing director of VoucherCodesPro.co.uk, said: “I would have expected a sports car to come out on top, but it shows that you don’t always have to splash out to get a car that could attract a future partner. Perhaps driving an Astra shows to a woman that a man is stable and looking to settle down into a mature relationship?”
Here are the Top 10 cars to attract a partner:
- Vauxhall Astra – 24%
- BMW 1-series – 19%
- Audi A3 – 14%

- Range Rover Evoque – 7%
